Mac the Digger Man

Today, the last day of term two was very busy. We started off the day learning to LOOK, LISTEN and LEARN with Mac the Digger Man. He told us about the path he took when he decided he wanted to write a picture book. He started the book nearly ten years ago. When he finished telling us about the book we read the book together.

In this photo Jackson is holding the book as we read it along with the CD.

A lady from a company called Taylors donated a copy of the book to our school.

After that we all had a go at working a hydraulic digger to dig a ball out of the sand and put it in a bucket. It was mint.

Amanda & Don

Amanda and Don got married and now Tim is off to live in Australia. Lots of kids went to the Carver's place for a party on Thursday night. In this photo Nathan is sitting by the BBQ fire in charge of keeping it going.
Here Amanda and Don cut the wedding cake.

We wish them all the best for the future and hope that Tim will keep in touch through the blog. Good luck.

Have you read this cool book?

This book is about a pigeon that wants to drive the bus. The people in the bus keep on saying, "No! No! No! No! Noo!!!!!!
But when the bus driver comes back the pigeon can't drive the bus. You never know what he's going think about driving next- a car maybe or a train well none of them.

Shearwater Bell

Dong dong today our class just finished reading a fantastic book called Shearwater Bell. The Shearwater Bell is about a girl called Rona who has to go stay with her Grandma who she has never meet.

And while she was there she meets a boy called Wiri and together they go adventuring together.

This photo is a page of a very old diary that Wiri found.

We thought that the book was interesting and we all wanted to read it all in one day.

Look out. It's getting away!

Our chocolate fish promotion went very well. Sixteen people have made a comment on the blog this week. That is an all time record I think. I'm sorry to say that chocolate fish #9 is now no more!

Shrubs, shrubs and more shrubs

We enjoyed planting our shrubs and will look after them well. First we had to get the shovel and dig a hole then we cut the plastic off the plant. After we tickled the roots means so the roots had a chance to grow before we put it in the hole. Once it was in the hole we filled it with dirt to the top and patted it down with our feet. We will water them every day unless it rains so the rain can do it for us and some sunshine and they will grow big.

Tim and Susa

Tim and Susa worked well to create the last of our digital stories. This one is 600KB. Remember you will need Quicktime to view them. The link for Quicktime is www.apple.com If you can't find your digital story on our blog I may have published it on our school website. Have a look at the link to our website to the right of this post.

Lara, Nathan and Jillian's Digital Story

What a great job the children did with their digital stories about the cave trip. This one is 800KB so will take a little while to download. But the time is well spent because the children narrate their adventures with plenty of expression.

Tyler's Cart

We had no homework this week so we had to make up our own. Tyler made this groovy cart!! He made it out of wood, wheels, and metal. Tyler made it with his Pop. He takes people for rides in it.

Dino and Braden

Our videos are really awesome. They are only about half a MB each so they will take a little time to download but they are well worth it. It is great to have another outlet to publish our digital learning. Remember you will have to have Quicktime on your computer. Quicktime is a free PC or Apple download from www.apple.com

Cross Country

The cross country was awesome! Everybody had a great time to run around and have some fun. We all ran our best and did well also I liked to see Emily rush for first place. It was so exciting to see the people who came round the corner first. Shanac came third and Emily came fifth. We can't wait to the Inter Schools.
