Dancing with the stars

On Saturday, Georgia and Jessica R did a dancing concert at Annesbrook. Georgia did a ballet dance and a jazz dance. Jessica did a ballet dance and a few tap dances. At the end our teachers gave us certificates and trophies. Georgia got a rosette for being one of the smiliest ballet dancers. Jessica got a trophy for being the most improved tap dancer. WELL DONE GIRLS!

On Sunday Charly's family went to a staff party. It was a costume party and Charly went as Malfoy. Today he brought his costume. He had a wand, a white shirt, a black cloak and a tie. The party was fun and the costume was cool.

Friday- one month before Christmas

Miss K was not at school today as she had an important meeting to go to at the Ministry of Education but on Thursday afternoon she took a couple of pictures for the blog.

The first is of Fox's handwriting book. Fox is working hard at getting his handwriting to look all nice and even with a good slope and his handwriting is improving well.

The second photo is of the smaller of Briony's sparrow chicks. The bigger one has already left home and is making his/her way in the big, wide world. Isn't it doing well.

Did You Hear The Screaming?

I am surprised that the whole world didn't wake up at the thought of a poor terrified mouse finding a safe place to hide in someone's shoe!

The screaming was so loud that Mr B thought that we were having a, "How big a noise can you make," competition.

Poor wee mouse!

Jenny helps us in Moturoa

Today Jenny helped us in the classroom while Miss K did important stuff ready for camp later this year.

We did some draft writing while some of us were practising for band.

Then we played this cool game and Jenny read us a story.

Year Three/Four Athletics

What a great day we had at the Year Three and Four athletics and Ranzau School today. Everyone tried really hard and achieved great results.

I didn't know Georgia could kick that high. Did you know that Georgia won the Year Four High Jump competition? Well done Georgia.

Look at Chelcie and Sam go!! Like the wind.

Great also to read Tim and Amanda's comment about Mitchell's prize at the A & P Show. Didn't he do well.

I think it is better now that you don't have to register to write a comment. It makes it a lot easier.

Help With Making Comment

To make it easier for people to make a comment on what they have seen or read on our blog I have changed the settings so that you don't have to register to write a comment, just click on the word COMMENT at the bottom of the post and write a comment as an anonymous or other. Maybe you could write your name at the bottom of the comment so that we still know who you are.

I trust that this privilege will be respected by people who comment and all comments will be appropriate for children's eyes.

If this privilege is not respected we will have to revert to the more difficult version.

A and P show

Everybody had fun at the A and P show on Saturday and Sunday. Mitchell won lots of prizes in the poultry section. Our class's favourite rides were the kamakazie and the dodgem cars and our favourite prize games were ping pong clown and the guy with the croaky voice. By Alex and Mitchell.

Aquatic Centre Fun and Games

What a lot of interesting things we have been doing and it is only one week since this blog was first thought of!

Last night I went to watch the children play water polo at the Aquatic Centre. They won convincingly which was great.

After a hard game it is always fun to relax in the wave pool.

Have a great weekend.

We would a couple of comments to give us some feedback on our posts.

Briony's Incredible Dedication

Over the last two weeks we have had a couple of extra visitors to our classroom.

Briony had found these two newly hatched birds blown out of a tree in the winds we had had. She showed great determination to look after the chicks and set about feeding them every hour and with baby food and later cat food.

I thought their chances of surviving were slim but Briony was determined to give it a go.

To our surprise and delight they have done really well under her care and after four days off school because she had been feeling unwell herself Briony brought them along to school today for us to see how much they had grown.

They have thrived and have now got proper feathers.

Well done Briony. A magnificent effort.

Gymnastics

Lots of kids went to the gymnastics festival today.

Thank you Jackie, Tom and all the helpers for helping us learn the routines.

They have learnt lots of new skills and really gained a lot from the experience.

Fly

We are enjoying the new game of Fly. The relieving teacher, Mrs Gray, taught us how to play and it is catching on quick.

Still more photos

Waimea did a dance from the Cook Islands.

After our sharing we came together with a shared lunch featuring food from our studied countries.

Mr B said that it was really yummy. He loved it.

Some More Awesome Photos

These photos show some of the highlights from our cultural sharing time at school today.

Maungatapu was showing us the highlights of Spain with flamenco dancing, pyramid building and classical guitar.

Then there is another photo of us doing our Tai Chi. Gosh we are clever.

Moutere showed us their Indian dance with painted hands. They were very good as well.

Appleby World Fair

Today we had a cultural sharing day with each class preparing a sharing time about their country.

Moturoa was learning about China so we showed the school some Tai Chi and then we showed them a Slam Dunk Powerpoint about Chinese art and heritage.

Lastly we helped the rest of the school make Chinese stars from folded paper.

After we had all shared we ate and shared food from our country.

Jackson S enjoyed the doughnuts from the Cook Islands food hall.

We say thank you so much to all the parents who prepared the food at home and to those who worked so hard in the staffroom to have it all ready for us to eat.

Miss K will put some more photos on the web site and maybe a video or two as well.

Today Jamie shared his new baby kittens with the class for news. They were really cute and there were five of them.

Jamie's Mum would like someone to have them for a Christmas present when they are bigger.

Then Shea's Mum brought four gorgeous chicks for us to hold.

Tomorrow the Year Fives are looking forward to going to the Athletic Sports.
